Mac Baker - Guitar Teacher
I have been playing guitar since the mid 60s, in and out of many bands through the 70s and 80s and finally did my highest profile work for Mammoth 1987-1990 during which time I was involved in much TV, Radio, Magazines and National Press.
After the demise of Mammoth I continued to work with Nicky Moore for about three years through various line ups of the Nicky Moore band (Funky Blues and soul) More&More with the inclusion of Kenny Cox (much Rockier) finally leaving to pursue a less rock oriented career.
I started ‘The Brekkie Brothers’ with Dom Palmer and Steve Thurlow, this was a large band with 6 piece horn section comprising graduating members of ‘NYJO’ and an American girl on Vocals (she was fantastic but got herself deported back to East LA!!) I have continued to work with some of the best musicians in the Country since then through a variety of line-ups and later name change to ‘Funktabulous’ I am currently getting the band ready to gig again after a couple of years away getting into and back out of some Major Surgery.
I started teaching guitar and later bass in the mid 90’s and in 1998 started teaching at Wilsons Grammar in Wallington and Epsom College (Major Public School) as well as developing a busy Private Practice. I left Wilsons in 2009 but stayed at Epsom until 2011 when I regretfully had to leave in order to get my surgery taken care of.
I am now teaching privately in Wallington both guitar (all styles incl acoustic but NOT Classical) and Bass at all levels.
I can also teach Music Tech here at home if required. Whatever your standard or requirements please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss them. I am just as happy teaching beginners or improvers to Grade Standard or beyond as I am teaching people who simply want to play for fun, I will not try to push you into something with which you are uncomfortable, above all you should enjoy your time in lessons.
