Buddy Guy Recieves Top Guitar Award.

My Guitar Lessons are pleased to announce that guitarist Buddy Guy has been named the recipient of The National GUITAR Museum’s 2014 “Lifetime Achievement” award. The blues pioneer becomes the fifth guitarist to receive the prestigious honor, following David “Honeyboy” Edwards in 2010, Roger McGuinn of The Byrds in 2011, B.B. King in 2012, and “James Bond” guitarist Vic Flick in 2013.

“Buddy Guy is the most important link between blues guitar and rock and roll,” said HP Newquist, executive director of the museum. “The raw and aggressive style of playing he developed onstage and in studios directly influenced Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Only a handful of guitarists in history have had that kind of effect on guitar playing. We’re honored to recognize Buddy’s contribution to the guitar with this award.”

The National GUITAR Museum is the first museum in the United States dedicated to the history, evolution and cultural impact of the guitar. The museum’s Board of Advisors includes guitar greats Tony Iommi, Steve Vai, Ritchie Blackmore, Steve Howe, Joe Bonamassa and Liona Boyd.
